Meet the Owners

SUSAN & TOM LOWDER

Holman Ranch Proprietors

The Lowder family purchased Holman Ranch in 2006, continuing the guest ranch legacy by offering wedding and corporate guests an elegant yet charming property with breathtaking views, 14 guest rooms, pool, exercise room, walking trails and many more amenities. They added an olive grove, 17 acres of vineyard with elevations ranging from 900’ to 1200’ and a winery with a state-of-the-art wine cave. The Lowders have made tremendous improvements to the estate, while maintaining the integrity and rich history of Holman Ranch. Tom Lowder married Susan Carrington in 2012, joining a family of three daughters and a family of three sons after they both lost their spouses to neurodegenerative diseases (Susan’s husband Dick Carrington had ALS and Tom’s wife Jarman Lowder had early onset Alzheimer’s). Philanthropy and finding cures for these diseases is a passion shared among Susan, Tom and their family.

Meet the Holman Ranch Events Team

TARA MELE

General Manager

Tara Mele, General Manager, has been with Holman Ranch since 2015. With a strong hospitality background from her education at Arizona State University and over 11 years of experience as a banquet manager at a high-end venue in downtown Monterey, Tara brings a strong sense of understanding and leadership in all aspects of the industry. Tara has lived in Carmel Valley for the past 14 years, raising her two children, giving her passion and understanding of the community.

VICTORIA DAVI

Event & Wedding Sales Manager

Victoria Davi, born and raised in Monterey, joined Holman Ranch in Summer 2017 after graduating from Saint Mary’s College in the East Bay. She began her career in the wine department before moving to events. Victoria was promoted to Event and Wedding Sales Manager, where she continues to assist our clients in creating remarkable events at Holman Ranch.

PETER CHARLES

Event Manager

Peter Charles spent his first 20 years working as a chef for Big Sur’s Ventena Inn and Deejen’s Big Sur Inn.  He later moved into Monterey, managing the restaurants of the Portola Plaza Hotel and Rappa’s on the Wharf, and spent part of his career working special events with Pebble Beach.  Peter joined the Holman Ranch team in 2009 as Events Manager.  Peter has also served in integral roles within the Tasting Room.  Peter continues to serve as our Events Manager today, and he also enjoys giving Holman Ranch Vineyard and Winery tours.

MEGHAN FINNEY

Marketing Coordinator

Born in Miami, Florida and raised in coastal Alabama, Meghan Finney brought her southern charm to Holman Ranch in 2019 as an Events Intern. She has since transitioned into Marketing Coordinator, representing Holman Ranch’s presence online. Meghan brings an acute eye to detail and energy to Holman Ranch. Meghan graduated from Auburn University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management and a minor in Business Administration.

PAULETTE TARDIO

Paulette Tario joined the Holman Ranch Team in 2016 and has served in multiple roles, primarily focusing on customer service and operations. Drawing from over 30 years of experience, Paulette brings her customer-centric experience to Holman Ranch with the goal to achieve operational excellence and exceed service expectations. Before joining Holman Ranch, Paulette led replenishment and logistics in the agriculture industry for many years. She holds a California Insurance License and has experience in sales and marketing.

RUBI RAMIREZ

Rubi Ramirez is responsible for moderating events, supervising day-to-day Ranch activities, and has been with Holman Ranch since 2016. A Salinas Valley native, Rubi is a vital member of the Holman Ranch team.

Meet the Holman Ranch Wine Team

KIRSTIE DYER

Director of Wine Sales

Kirstie Dyer, Director of Wine Sales, graduated from Sonoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Wine Business and Marketing. She began her career at Hamel Family Wines in Sonoma as their Operations Manager until she moved to New York where she worked for the largest NY distributor running a sales team in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Adding to her wine experience and knowledge, Kirstie has earned her Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level Three certification. Kirstie is excited to be back in Central California, where she was born and raised.

ANTOINE PELTEREAU-VILLENEUVE

Antoine joined the Holman Ranch team in September of 2020 as the Tasting Room Hospitality Lead. He brings a diverse skill set from working in numerous high-end hotels, resorts, and wineries, such as Club Med Sandpiper Bay and Punta Cana, and Canard Duchêne in San Rafael, California. Antoine graduated from Gonzaga University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and a minor in Promotions.  Antoine is a French-American who loves to play golf, drink wine, and spend time meeting new people.

GREG & CHRIS VITA

Greg Vita (on the right) has been a vineyard and winemaking consultant to wineries in the Napa Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey County for the last twenty-four years. Prior to opening his consulting business, he was with Spring Mountain Vineyards in St. Helena for twelve years in the capacity of Winemaker and General Manager. Greg is a UC Davis graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Plant Science. Greg is married and has two sons. He enjoys the outdoor pursuits of hiking, fly fishing and skiing.

Chris Vita (on the left) has been working throughout the Monterey County Wine Appellation since a very early age. The son of winemakers, Greg and Diana Vita, Chris got his start working in various cellars with his parents. Chris chose to make this passion his career after graduating from the esteemed winemaking program at UC Davis with a degree in Viticulture and Enology. Winemaking has allowed Chris to travel and learn, taking him as far as New Zealand to acquire and exchange skills. Chris is a winemaker and consultant primarily in the Monterey County. He is constantly working to perfect his craft and broaden his knowledge. Chris’ winemaking philosophy rests upon a balance of science and tradition, using modern technologies to support traditional winemaking techniques. When not in the cellar, Chris enjoys recreating in the outdoors with frequent trips to climb and ski in the mountains.
